Trauma memories in children K-12 from School Shootings, Tragic Deaths, or Severe Bullying can have devastating long lasting effects.
This is a series of writing exercises to change the initial harmful Trauma Memory to a new Helpful Trauma Memory that includes the trauma along with the comfort & supportive information of people, places, and ways to receive help to regain a sense of feeling safe.
The new memory also includes future plans to move the person forward in their life. This series of handwriting exercises is easy to follow. Handwriting exercises, based on the principles of brain neuroplasticity, to use with ages 6 - 18 that replaces an immediate Trauma Memory with it's harmful effects on the brain of memory loss, impaired thinking, disturbed emotions, continual confusion and constant danger alert - replace that memory with a helpful memory of the trauma event that includes who to turn to for support, how to feel better when scared, places to feel safe, what they want to do, learn, and be in the future, and a wider perspective of their life in which the trauma is one part, not the biggest and not a lasting debilitating part.
